Ohmden-Holzmaden is a landscape protection area with the protection area number 1.16.085 in the Esslingen district in Baden-Württemberg .

Location and description

The landscape protection area consists of four sub-areas and lies on the boundaries of the communities of Ohmden and Holzmaden to the north and south of the two places. The protected area was created by ordinance of March 3, 1993. It belongs to the nature area 101- Foreland of the Middle Swabian Alb within the main natural unit 10- Swabian Keuper-Lias Land and is largely in the bird sanctuary 7323-441 foreland of the Middle Swabian Alb . The nature reserve 1.185- Wiestal mit Rauber is directly adjacent.

Protection purpose

According to the Protected Area Ordinance, the main protection purpose is the preservation of the diversity and beauty of the valleys and valley slopes along the Trinkbach, Seebach and Aubach as well as the orchard meadows, meadows, groups of trees, wet areas, woody banks and forest edges of the foothills. This varied landscape offers numerous animals and plants the necessary habitat. The multitude of different landscape elements and the wealth of the most diverse border structures with their importance as a habitat for numerous, sometimes rare plant and animal species characterize the value of this landscape. Another protective purpose is to ensure that it is a valuable recreational area on the edge of the heavily industrialized and polluted valleys of the Neckar, Lauter and Lindach, as well as protecting against damage from small buildings and fences.
