Neuffen on the districts Neuffen and Kappishäuser is a landscape protection area (protected area number 1.16.086) in the Esslingen district .

Location and description

The protected area was created by ordinance of the Esslingen District Office of August 10, 1993. With the entry into force of this ordinance, the Nürtingen District Office's ordinances for the protection of landscape components and parts of the landscape in the Nürtingen district of October 22, 1942 and of the Württemberg Ministry of Culture came into effect on the Erkenbrechtsweiler mountain peninsula with Hörnle and Jusi of October 25, 1939, each for the sub-areas that are covered by the Neuffen Landscape Protection Area Ordinance on the Neuffen and Kappishäuser districts.

These are two sub-areas that completely enclose the city of Neuffen and its Kappishäuser district . The area belongs to the natural areas 094- Middle Kuppenalb and 101- Middle Alb foreland within the natural spatial main units 09- Swabian Alb and 12- Swabian Keuper-Lias-Land . The LSG is located entirely in the Swabian Alb biosphere area , it partially overlaps with the FFH area 7422-311- Alb between Jusi and Teck .

Protection purpose

According to the Protected Area Ordinance , the main protection purpose is the preservation of the diversity, uniqueness and beauty on the flanks of the Hohenneuffen and the Jusiberges , the typical steep slopes, hillside springs, beech forests, heaths, vineyards, extensive orchards and the intact wooded banks of the Steinach . These areas determine the landscape character and, with their diverse border structures, are particularly valuable as habitats for numerous, sometimes rare, plant and animal species. Further protection purposes are the preservation of recreational space for the general public and the prevention of the creation of further small buildings and enclosures in the outdoor area.
