The Autmuttal landscape protection area near Großbettlingen, Geigersbühl and Gewann Gelber Brunnen is a protected landscape area (LSG number 1.16.038) in the area of ​​the city of Nürtingen and the municipalities of Großbettlingen and Altdorf , which was designated by the Lower Nature Conservation Authority at the Esslingen District Office of July 24, 1981 .

Location and description

Staufenbühl volcanic embryo

The 123 hectare area is located near Großbettlingen. In the west it borders on the district of Altdorf, in the north lies the Nürtingen district of Raidwangen . The area south of Großbettlingen is in the FFH area Albvorland Nürtingen-Kirchheim . The nature reserve belongs to the Middle Alb foreland and the Filder .

The protected area consists of three sub-areas. The largest area in terms of area is the Autmut valley west of Großbettlingen. The extensive natural monuments volcanic embryo Geigersbühl and volcanic embryo Staufenbühl are located in the LSG , with the northern part of the Staufenbühl in the LSG area around Nürtingen, Neckarhausen and Raidwangen .

Protection purpose

According to the Protected Area Ordinance, the main protection purpose is the safeguarding and long-term preservation of the ecologically valuable Autmuttal as an open space and local recreation area for the general public, the preservation of the geologically significant top of the Geigersbühl as a green area on the outskirts and the safeguarding of the "Yellow Fountain" as a green break between built-up districts.
