Zeitgeist (exhibition)

Zeitgeist - International Art Exhibition Berlin was an art exhibition held in 1982 under the artistic direction of Christos M. Joachimides and Norman Rosenthal . It took place in Berlin's Martin-Gropius-Bau , which at the time was still heavily damaged by war and was only temporarily repaired. In addition, the Berlin Wall, erected in 1961, ran right in front of the main entrance to the building . The participating artists were encouraged to produce work specifically for the exhibition and the location. Among other things, works by the Neue Wilde were shown. The organizer was the Neue Berliner Kunstverein . The board of trustees consisted of: Barbara Jacobson, Eberhard Roters , Lucie Schauer , Wieland Schmied , Hans Hermann Stober. The press spokesman was Wilhelm Ruprecht Frieling .
