Zell is a district of Kufstein . It is located in the west of the municipality and is the only part of the city that is entirely located on the left bank of the Inn (the train station is assigned to the center).

Geography and history

Zell is the oldest part of Kufstein. The name arose from a small chapel that has existed for centuries and was gradually expanded and rebuilt and became today's parish church of St. Martin. Small chapels used to be called cells .

People settled in the area of the Zell church a long time ago. Only later, during industrialization, did Zell continue to grow. Today there are mainly large buildings with a city center character in the area around the station. A few terraced houses and many single-family houses have also been built in Zell und Kleinholz. Morsbach forms a strong contrast to the rest of the city due to its extreme village character.

In the interwar period and shortly after the Second World War, the city of Kufstein made several territorial claims to the Tyrolean provincial government, some of which were granted ( Thierberg , Zellerberg , Morsbach , Kleinholz ). However , she has not been allowed to enter the Stimmersee area to this day.

In the middle of Zell stands the Zellerberg (incorporated in 1947) which offers a long forest mile for athletes. In Morsbach is the protected Maistaller Lacke , the only remaining pond of many. On the Maistallerberg and the Thierberg (incorporated in 1937) are the Kufstein lakes Pfrillsee , Längsee , Hechtsee and the small Egelsee, which is under environmental protection .

The district can be divided into

  • Cell
  • Morsbach (incorporated in 1956)
  • Kleinholz (incorporated in 1956)
  • Bärental (incorporated in 1937)

traffic

City bus route 3 and several regional bus routes go to Zell. The Tiroler Straße B 171 and the Wildbichler Straße B 175 lead through or begin in the district, as do the Thierseestraße L 37, Hechtseestraße L 210 and the Unterinntalstraße L 211.

The Kufstein train station forms the border between the districts of Zell and the center.
