The dwarf birch bog in sheep Wedel is a nature reserve in Lower Saxony spots Bodenteich in the Uelzen district .
The nature reserve with the sign NSG LÜ 008 is 2.7 hectares in size. It is located between Bad Bodenteich and the Schafwedel district in the south of the Bodenteicher Seewiesen, a subsidence area above the Bodenteich salt dome . It is a high moor with a birch grove with occurrence of the dwarf birch under protection.
In the north and south, the nature reserve is bounded by a field path, which is followed by the Seehalsbeke in the south and a ditch in the north that leads to the pumping station canal . Both watercourses flow into the floodplain in Bad Bodenteich, which becomes Stederau , a source river of the Ilmenau , in Stederdorf near Wrestedt .
The area has been a nature reserve since June 5, 1950. The responsible lower nature conservation authority is the district of Uelzen.
