The Bornbachtal is a nature reserve in the Lower Saxony municipalities of Wrestedt in the Samtgemeinde Aue and in the city of Uelzen in the Uelzen district .

The nature reserve with the sign NSG LÜ 285 is 283  hectares . It is almost completely part of the FFH area "Ilmenau with tributaries". The 23.9 hectare "Altes Gehege" natural forest reserve, which was designated in 1972, is part of the nature reserve. The reserve borders a large area to the extensive conservation area . The area has been a nature reserve since May 29, 2008. The responsible lower nature conservation authority is the district of Uelzen.

The nature reserve is located south of Uelzen. It places the Bornbach with its valley area and its lowland under protection until shortly before the confluence with the Stederau near Niendorf II, the Schöneblecksenbach with its valley area and the old enclosure with natural streams and still waters .

In its northern area, the Bornbach is almost continuously accompanied by a wooded border. In the southern area there are near-natural moist forests, which in many places are fed by emerging hillside spring water on the valley sides in addition to the streams , with interspersed swamps and vineyards .

In the upper reaches of the Bornbach there are partly abandoned fish ponds that have been transformed into near-natural bodies of water. Are the Talrändern pines forste and small areas oak mixed forests and oak-hornbeam forests to find. A mill jam at Neumühle was bypassed by a flood so that the stream is completely continuous again.

In the lowlands, areas are used as grassland and occasionally as arable land.
