The Bobenwald is a nature reserve in the Lower Saxony municipality of Ebstorf in the joint municipality of Bevensen-Ebstorf in the district of Uelzen .

The nature reserve with the sign NSG LÜ 328 is around 210  hectares in size. It is congruent with the FFH area of the same name designated in 2007 . In the north and east it borders on the landscape protection area "ground forest Sieken". In the scope of the Nature Conservation Ordinance, the landscape protection area has merged into the nature reserve. The area has been under nature protection since August 1, 2018. The responsible lower nature conservation authority is the district of Uelzen.

The nature reserve is located northwest of Uelzen . It places part of the eponymous Bobenwald and the Hasenwinkel adjoining it to the west under protection as a species-rich and natural deciduous mixed forest on an old forest site. The forests in the nature reserve are dominated by grove beech forests . The area is one of the largest contiguous grove beech forests in the Lüneburg Heath. Beech forests are predominant. In addition, beech forests and mixed oaks also occur. Some of the forests have a high proportion of old and dead wood and well-structured forest edges . The dominant tree species is the common beech . There are also English oak and sessile oak , hornbeam and mountain ash, as well as partially silver birch , quivering poplar and white willow . Partial areas in the north and east of the protected area, a total of 46 hectares, are left to develop naturally. Otherwise, the forests are managed by the Lower Saxony State Forests, taking into account the program for long-term ecological forest development (LÖWE) . In the process, coniferous forest stands are also converted into deciduous forest stands. Within the forest are two near-natural small bodies of water with silting zones at the edge . Partial areas in the nature reserve were previously farmed as wölbäcker .

The nature reserve is an important habitat for various bird species , bats such as the great mouse-eared mouse and deadwood inhabitants.

The nature reserve borders further wooded areas to the north and east. Otherwise it borders on agricultural land . The area cross several rural roads and in the southwest, the railway line Uelzen-Langwedel . The route has been removed from the scope of the Nature Conservation Ordinance with an edge strip in order to leave space for expansion and electrification of the railway line.
