Im Sieken und Bruch is a nature reserve in the Lower Saxony city of Uelzen and the communities of Barum and Emmendorf in the joint community of Bevensen-Ebstorf in the district of Uelzen .
The nature reserve with the sign NSG LÜ 272 is 190 hectares in size. It is part of the FFH area "Ilmenau with tributaries".
The nature reserve is between Uelzen and Barum and west of Emmendorf. It protects a two-part area, the “Sieken” in the west and the “Bruch” in the east. Both parts are connected by the Ohbeck, a tributary of the Ilmenau .
The "Sieken" is a forest area on a terminal moraine . The forest area is crossed by small streams that form the Ohbeckgraben. The terminal moraine is made up of deciduous and mixed deciduous forests typical of the natural area, such as mixed beech and oak forests . Agricultural land , grassland and arable land are interspersed in the forest area . There are ponds in several places in the forest area . The “Bruch” in the east is also characterized by deciduous forest stands, but also by agricultural areas. The Ohbeck is of Hochstaudenfluren , reeds , Riedern and swamps accompanied.
In the east, the Hanover – Hamburg rail line crosses the “Bruch”, and Bundesstraße 4 runs in the middle of the nature reserve . It shares “Sieken” and “Bruch” at the same time.
The area has been a nature reserve since March 29, 2007. The responsible lower nature conservation authority is the district of Uelzen.
