Álvaro Affonso de Miranda Neto (born February 5, 1973 in São Paulo ), also Doda de Miranda , is a Brazilian show jumper.
In October 2013 he was number 23 in the world rankings.
Private
With the model Cibele Dorsa, Doda has a daughter, Viviane de Miranda, who was born in 2000. Like her father, she competes in show jumping. His brother Nando de Miranda is also active as a show jumper.
In 2002, while training in Belgium, he met Athina Onassis , whom he married on December 3, 2005 in São Paulo . His best man was the show jumper Rodrigo Pessoa . The couple lived in Valkenswaard in the Netherlands . The couple separated in 2016 and divorced in autumn 2017.
De Miranda has been living in Brazil again since 2016. In the same year he met his new partner Denize Severo, whom he married in September 2018.
Career
At the age of nine, de Miranda started riding in São Paulo. He dropped out of college after the sophomore year and moved from Brazil to Belgium in 1995 to train with Nelson Pessoa .
In the spring of 1996 he took part in the World Cup finals for the first time in Geneva . With the Brazilian national team, de Miranda won the bronze medal in both the 1996 and 2000 Olympic Games , each with Aspen . He was able to repeat this success with the Brazilian team at the Pan American Games 2003 in Santo Domingo with the horse Oliver Metodo .
He also finished the 1996 Summer Olympics with an eighth place in the individual ranking. Other championships for him were the World Equestrian Games in 1998, 2002 and 2006 . At the Pan American Games in 2011 , he won team silver with Norson and was 25th in the individual ranking.
At the 2016 Olympic Games in front of a home crowd, the Brazilian team came fifth, de Miranda finished ninth in the individual standings as the best Brazilian with Cornetto K. Due to the loss of his horses as a result of the divorce and the move to Brazil, de Miranda lost contact with the international top-class sport. In 2017 he only took part in two international tournaments, both in Brazil.
