Goofy - Der Film (also: Der Goofy Film , original title: A Goofy Movie ) is the second full-length animated film from the Walt Disney Studios that does not belong to the official "masterpieces" canon, but was produced by the TV studios.

Max meets the beautiful Roxanne in a cornfield, who immediately falls into his arms. When they look each other in love, Max transforms into a great version of his father, Goofy . Fortunately for him, it turns out that Max was just dreaming. However, he has to hurry so that he can get there on time for the last day of school before the summer holidays.
When he arrives at school, he and his friends Bobby Zimuruski and KJ are planning a student prank with which Max wants to make an impression on Roxanne: During the address of the director, he starts a small concert disguised as a powerline. But the three are discovered and therefore have to go to the director's office. He calls Goofy and portrays Max as particularly dangerous. In order to get Max back on the right track and to improve their mutual relationship, Goofy takes Max on a fishing trip without knowing that Max would like to meet Roxanne on vacation. As an excuse for not meeting her, Roxanne told Roxanne that he was going to the powerline concert that is being televised to perform with him. Now Max is in a dilemma: He has to spend his vacation with his father, cannot see his great love and has no way of turning his story of lies into reality.
During the journey, Max is exposed to numerous embarrassments from his father, who tries by all means to get closer to his son. They also meet the tomcat Karlo and his son KJ, who have an even worse father-son relationship. When Goofy and Max finally meet the legendary Bigfoot, their relationship improves again. But when Goofy falls asleep, Max secretly changes the course marked on the road map kept by his father, which has been in the family for generations. The next day, Goofy hands Max more responsibility and the card. He is supposed to act as a navigator and plan all stopovers up to the destination Lake Destiny, Idaho. One night, however, they spend the night in a motel, where they meet Karlo and KJ again. Karlo overhears Max tells him that he has changed the map and tells Goofy, who at first doesn't want to believe it. But finally he looks and is deeply saddened by Max's betrayal. Next, Max leads Goofy in the direction now marked on the map, instead of leading his father to the actual destination, Lake Destiny, Idaho. Goofy stops at the roadside, angry and offended. The feelings of the two discharge as their car drives towards a cliff. Eventually it ends up in a river together with Goofy and Max, where father and son finally talk.
They agree to go to the powerline concert and by chance they actually end up on stage. Powerline finds the duo's dance moves so good that he interacts with them. Back home, Max meets Roxanne and tells her the whole story. Max then kisses Roxanne. She is happy about Max's honesty and also befriends Goofy.

The lexicon of international films describes Goofy's first feature film about father and pubescent son on a joint initiation trip as a “reasonably entertaining family film that does not adequately use the possibilities of animation”.
The German film and media rating awarded the film rating "valuable" to the "dramaturgically flawlessly designed cartoon" with a "touching, everyday and not - as usual at Disney - fairy-tale-like story that cleverly resolves generation problems without being intrusive". In addition, choreography, dance numbers and the consistent, contemporary musical accompaniment are praised.
