The A Grupa 1959/60 was the 36th season of the highest Bulgarian football league . ZDNA Sofia became champion for the seventh time in a row and for the tenth time.

mode

The twelve teams played against each other twice on a total of 22 match days, divided into a first and a second half. At the end of the season, the bottom of the table rose to the B Grupa . The league was increased to 14 clubs for the following season.
