Adrián Alonso García Sobarzo (born May 25, 1978 in Concepción ) is a former Chilean tennis player .

Career

García played his first tournament on the ATP Challenger Tour in 1996, and he appeared regularly from 1998. In 1999 he won his first title on the lower endowed ITF Future Tour . Just one year later he celebrated his first double title on the Challenger Tour in San José . For the Chilean Davis Cup team he made his debut this year in the already won game against Canada in the meaningless fourth individual, which he lost to Frédéric Niemeyer . He gave his premiere on the ATP World Tour in Santiago de Chile . He received a wild card for the singles and doubles and won the singles in the first round against Galo Blanco , who was then number 77 in the world. He finished the year in the top 300 of the world rankings in both singles and doubles .

In the following years he steadily improved in the world rankings and was in the top 200 in the world for the first time in July 2002. He won his first individual title on the Challenger Tour in Mexico City in 2003 when he defeated local heroes Santiago González in the final . After winning his second individual title in Zagreb in 2004, being in the finals of other Challenger tournaments and reaching the quarter-finals of an ATP World Tour tournament for the only time in Sopot in August 2004 , he reached his career record a month later with 103rd place. Despite his third title in 2005 in Ettlingen, he could not hold this position and he fell out of the top 200 in the world. His only appearance at a Grand Slam tournament was in Wimbledon that same year . After qualifying, he met Justin Gimelstob in the first round , against whom he lost in three straight sets.

In doubles, he often made it into the second round, but he still did not make a breakthrough on the World Tour. In 2006 he made it to the quarterfinals of the world group with the Davis Cup team, where they had to admit defeat to the Davis Cup team of the United States . García played doubles with Paul Capdeville . They lost their game against the brothers Bob and Mike Bryan . Overall, García has an individual balance of 4: 3 in the Davis Cup, in doubles his balance is balanced with 2: 2. On the Challenger Tour in 2006 and 2007 he won another double title. In April 2007 he was 124th on his career record. From 2007 to 2012 he played in the 2nd Bundesliga tennis for TV Espelkamp-Mittwald (2007, 2011 and 2012), TEC Waldau Stuttgart (2008) and KTHC Stadion Rot-Weiss (2009 and 2010).

In January 2008 he received a wildcard for the double field again in Viña del Mar. On the side of Rubén Ramírez Hidalgo , he beat the top seeded pairing Marcelo Melo and André Sá in the first round and advanced to the semi-finals. There they were defeated by Máximo González and Juan Mónaco in two sentences. In Florianópolis he won his sixth double title with Leonardo Mayer without losing a set. A year later he celebrated his seventh and final Challenger title with his doubles partner David Marrero in Constanța . He then moved into a Challenger semi-final in Naples in March 2010 and ended his career in September 2011 after the tournament in Cali .
