Alice Aprot Nawowuna (born January 2, 1994 ) is a Kenyan long-distance runner . Her preferred disciplines are 5000 and 10,000 meters as well as cross and road runs up to 15 kilometers and 10 miles respectively.

Career

Back in 2010, the then 16-year-old finished third in the 5000 meter run at the Junior World Championships in Canada.

At the African Cross Country Championships 2014 in Kampala , she won the bronze medal in the senior race and the gold medal with the team.

Alice Aprot was third at the All Africa Games in Brazzaville in 2015 in the 5000 meter and won the 10,000 meter run. With a time of 14: 39.56 minutes, which she ran in Brussels in 2015 , Alice Aprot is in the all-time world rankings over the 5000 meter distance.

In 2016 she won the title of African cross-country champion and also won over 10,000 meters at the African athletics championships. She took part in the Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro and reached fourth place in the 10,000 meter final.

At the 2017 World Championships in London , she reached fourth place in the 10,000 meter final run, almost a minute behind and a time of 31: 11.86 minutes. With her time of 29:53:51 min achieved in Rio de Janeiro in 2016, where she also finished fourth, she would have become world champion in London 2017.

Private

Alice Aprot comes from a family with eight children. She is the younger sister of the cross-country world champion Joseph Ebuya (* 1987).
