Alwin von Puttkamer
Johann Georg Karl Leopold Alwin Freiherr von Puttkamer (born October 11, 1811 in Jassen , † December 16, 1885 in Koblenz ) was a Prussian major general .
Life
Origin and family
Alwin was a member of the Pomeranian barons von Puttkamer from the house of Wollin . His parents were the heir to Jassen and Chosnitz Wilhelm von Puttkamer (1782–1849) and Johanna, née von Zitzewitz (1784–1859). His brothers Konstantin von Puttkamer (1807–1899) and Heinrich von Puttkamer (1818–1886) also became Prussian generals.
He married Julie d'Olimart (1818–1898) in Luxembourg in 1843 . From the marriage resulted:

Career
Puttkamer began his career in the Prussian army in 1823 as a cadet in Kulm , went to Berlin as a cadet in 1826 and was promoted to porter ensign in the 39th Infantry Regiment in 1830 . In 1831 he was promoted to secondary lieutenant and in 1836 was commanded to the training infantry battalion. He became a battalion adjutant in 1841 and was promoted to prime lieutenant in 1845 . In 1848 he was still a regimental adjutant before being promoted to captain and company commander in 1849 . With his promotion to major in 1858 he was also commander of the III. Battalions in the 25th Landwehr Regiment in Malmedy . In 1860 he was commanded as a battalion leader of the 25th Combined Infantry Regiment and in the same year received the position as commander of the Fusilier Battalion in the 5th Rhenish Infantry Regiment No. 65 . He riser 1861 to lieutenant colonel on, in 1865 Brigadier 8th Gendarmerie Brigade and received in the same year the character of Colonel . During the mobilization in 1866 he was commander of the Landwehr Regiment No. 16 and received the patent for his rank in the same year . After participating in the German War , he returned to his peacetime position as a brigadier of the 8th Gendarmerie Brigade in 1866. He was aggregated in 1867 to the officer corps of the Landgendarmerie and with the command of the Landwehr Gendarmerie in the area of the XI. Army Corps instructed. After he was still 1868 Brigadier of the 11th Gendarmerie Brigade, he has his 1869 farewell with the character as a major general and pension received. While the mobile ratio occasion of the war against France , he was in 1870 for the disposition set and stage inspector at the VIII. Corps appointed. In 1871 he returned to his inactive relationship.
Puttkamer was a knight of honor of the Order of St. John .
