Andrés Marcelo Nocioni (born November 30, 1979 in Santa Fe ) is a former Argentine - Italian basketball player .
career
Club career
After his time in the Argentine first division, Nocioni moved to Spain in 1999. There he played for TAU Cerámica Vitoria in the ULEB EuroLeague and the Spanish ACB league .
On August 11, 2004, he was hired by the Chicago Bulls as a free agent . After four years as a player with the Bulls, Nocioni went to the Sacramento Kings and later to Philadelphia .
From 2012 to 2017 Nocioni played again in the Spanish ACB league , as well as in the EuroLeague .
National team
Andrés Nocioni plays for the Argentine national team , with whom he won the gold medal at the 2004 Olympic Games in Greece . In 2008, the Argentine selection at the Olympic Games in Beijing reached third place and thus the bronze medal.
At the 2010 Basketball World Cup in Turkey, Nocioni could only be present as a spectator. Although he traveled with the team to the tournament, his club at the time, the Philadelphia 76ers , forbade him to participate after an injury sustained in the training camp.
Trivia
The peculiarity of Nocioni was his insatiable ambition. He often ran up despite injuries where other players would avoid the field. For this reason, he earned the nickname "Chapu", after the Latin American comic superhero El Chapulin Colorado.
