society
Gillingham FC
Andrew Crofts started his playing career in 2001 at the age of only 16 with the English second division club Gillingham , where he made his debut shortly before the end of the 2000/01 season. In the following two years he remained without league use. It was not until the 2003/04 season that he was considered eight times in a league game. His breakthrough came in the newly formed Football League Championship 2004/05 , when Crofts scored two goals in 27 league games, but relegated his team to the third division. For the next three years, Andrew Crofts was one of Gillingham's top performers in Football League One . The return to the second division was missed, rather the club rose in the 2007/08 season in the fourth division . In November 2008 he moved to Peterborough United on loan until February 2009 and a short time later to Wrexham FC until the end of the season .
Norwich City
At the beginning of the 2009/10 season, Andrew Crofts joined the English third division club Brighton & Hove Albion . In Brighton he quickly found his old form and scored five goals in 44 league games. His good form was also noticed by league rivals Norwich City , who won the League One championship title and signed Crofts for the coming season. In the Football League Championship 2010/11 Crofts quickly established himself as a regular player and, with eight goals in 43 league games, contributed to Norwich's promotion to the Premier League as runner-up behind the Queens Park Rangers . After his first year in the English major division, Crofts returned to Brighton in the second division in August 2012.
Further career stations
During his second stay in Brighton, Crofts stayed a good three and a half years. It followed from mid-March 2016 to the end of the 2015/16 season, a short loan period with ex-club Gillingham in the third division, before he signed on with Gillingham's competitor Charlton Athletic in July 2016 . After a year he was allowed to move from there for free at the end of the summer change period due to an oversupply of midfielders. The next stations were Scunthorpe United (2017/18 season), AFC Newport County (2018/19 season) and Yeovil Town (from July 2019) - third to fifth division teams in descending order with only sporadic probation opportunities - before it ended a third time July 2019 in Brighton. At the club, which has now arrived in the Premier League, Crofts was primarily committed to the youth team's coaching staff, but was also registered as part of the first team's squad.
Welsh national team
Thanks to his Welsh grandparents, Crofts, who was born in England, was able to play for the Welsh national football team . After playing for the U-19 and U-21 national teams, he made his debut for Wales against Azerbaijan on October 12, 2005 .
