Anna Elżbieta Zalewska (born July 6, 1965 in Świebodzice ) is a Polish politician of Prawo i Sprawiedliwość .

Life

Zalewska studied polonistics at the Uniwersytet Wrocławski and was initially a teacher and deputy director at the grammar school in her hometown.

She began her political career as a member of the Freedom Union and in 2003 switched to PiS , which was founded in 2001 by Lech and Jarosław Kaczyński . From 2002 to 2007 Zalewska was a member of the legislature of the Świdnica district and in 2006 also became a deputy starosta there . Your first candidacy for the Sejm in 2005 was unsuccessful. In the parliamentary elections in 2007 she was elected to the Sejm on the list of the PiS for the constituency Wałbrzych . In 2011 she was re-elected in the same constituency. In 2009 and 2014 she ran unsuccessfully for the European Parliament . From November 2015 to June 2019, she was the successor to Joanna Kluzik-Rostkowska in the Szydło Cabinet, Minister for National Education.
