Konstanty Radziwiłł (born January 9, 1958 in Wroclaw ) is a Polish doctor, doctor of medicine , from 2001 to 2010 chairman of the medical council, senator of the IX. Electoral term; Minister of Health in the Szydło and Morawiecki governments between 2015 and 2018 .

Life

In 1977 Radziwiłł put on Tadeusz Reytan High School in Warsaw , the matriculation examination from. He studied at the medical faculty from 1977 to 1983. He then specialized in general medicine (1993) and family medicine (1994). Radziwiłł finished postgraduate studies of economics in healthcare at the University of Warsaw , as well as postgraduate studies of bioethics at the Cardinal Stefan Wyszyński University in Warsaw . In 2011 he obtained the academic degree of Doctor of Medicine at the Military Medical Institute .

Radziwiłł was the chairman of the Independent Students' Union at the Medical Academy. After martial law was declared , he was active in the student union's underground movement. He was also an activist in the opposition movement Ruch Wolność i Pokój (German Movement for Freedom and Peace).

After studying in 1983 and 1984, he worked as an AIP , later a general practitioner. Employed in the rescue service until 1989. Between 1986 and 1991 he was a company doctor . In 1996 he became the owner of a non-public health company. He taught at a Warsaw university (2001-2003).

He held different positions in the Warsaw District Medical Association and the Principal Medical Association. Between 2001 and 2010 Chairman of the Medical Council and from 2010 to 2012 Chairman of the Standing Committee of European Physicians (CPME). In 2010 he was appointed to the Health Care Information Center (Polish Centrum Systemów Informacyjnych Ochrony Zdrowia ). In 2013 he approached the party around Jarosław Gowin , the Polska Razem .

For the 2015 parliamentary elections , Radziwiłł ran for the Senate from the PiS electoral list (as a candidate for Polska Razem). He succeeded for the IX. Electoral term to achieve a mandate. On November 16, 2015, Radziwiłł was appointed Minister of Health in the Szydło Cabinet (later Morawiecki I ) and resigned on January 9, 2018. In May 2016 he joined Prawo i Sprawiedliwość .

Radziwiłł ensured that the prescription requirement for the morning-after pill was reintroduced. He said on the radio that this was an "ideological act"; it serves to protect young Polish girls. Radziwiłł thinks the morning-after pill is so harmful that he would not even prescribe it to women who have been raped.

Awards

In 2004 he received the Cross of Merit of the Republic of Poland , in 2009 the Order of Polonia Restituta (Knight) and is laureate of the Warsaw Capital Prize .

Radziwiłł comes from the royal family Radziwiłł , is the grandson of Konstanty Mikołaj Radziwiłł , son of Albert Hieronim Radziwiłł and Anna Maria Czartoryska ; Brother of Maciej Radziwiłł .

He is married and has four sons and four daughters.
