Anthony Stolarz (born January 20, 1994 in Edison , New Jersey ) is an American ice hockey goalkeeper who has been under contract with the Anaheim Ducks of the National Hockey League since July 2019 and at the same time for their farm team , the San Diego Gulls , in the American Hockey League plays.
Career
Stolarz played in New Jersey when he was a teenager . After he had to leave the team of the New Jersey Hitmen at the end of the 2010/11 season , he joined the Corpus Christi IceRays from the North American Hockey League . There he was able to attract the attention of the Scouts of the National Hockey League through a successful season , whereby he was selected in the second round of the NHL Entry Draft 2012 in 45th place by the Philadelphia Flyers .
After the year in Texas , the goalkeeper moved to the 2012/13 season by means of a scholarship to the University of Nebraska Omaha , where he worked with the ice hockey team in the Western Collegiate Hockey Association , a division in the game operations of the National Collegiate Athletic Association . After eight missions, he left the university and joined the London Knights from the Ontario Hockey League . There he secured the regular place in goal during the season and at the end of the season won the championship with the Knights in the form of the J. Ross Robertson Cup . The following season he finished with the best catch rate of all goalkeepers.
The Philadelphia Flyers had the goalkeeper to sign an NHL entry contract back in March 2014 . With the beginning of the 2014/15 game year they finally put him in their farm team , the Lehigh Valley Phantoms , in the American Hockey League , where he first formed a team with Rob Zepp and later Jason LaBarbera over the next two years . During this time he was repeatedly called up as a back-up in the NHL roster in Philadelphia, but was not used. It was only in the course of the 2016/17 season , which he had started again in the AHL, that he was reassigned to the Flyers' NHL squad in mid-November 2016. Michal Neuvirth's protracted injury finally led to his debut against the Calgary Flames at the end of November .
In the 2018/19 season, the American received - again due to injuries - more playing time in the NHL before he was handed over by the Flyers to the Edmonton Oilers in February 2019 . In return, Cam Talbot moved to Philadelphia. There he ended the season and then moved to the Anaheim Ducks as a free agent .
International
For his home country, Stolarz took part in the U20 World Junior Championship in 2014 in Malmö , Sweden . There he was behind Jon Gillies second goalkeeper of the US team and was used in a game in which he booked a shutout . The Americans finished the tournament in fifth place.
