Antony , with full name Antony Matheus dos Santos (born February 24, 2000 in Osasco ), is a Brazilian football player who is under contract with the Dutch honorary division Ajax Amsterdam . The winger has been Brazil's U23 international since June 2019 .

Career

Antony joined the youth team of São Paulo FC in 2010 and was promoted to the top division of the first division with the signing of his first professional contract in September 2018 . He made his Serie A debut on November 15 when he came on as a substitute for Helinho in the 1-1 draw with Gremio Porto Alegre in the second half . In the next 2019 season , he then advanced into the starting lineup of the Tricolor . He scored his first professional goal in the 4-0 home win against Chapecoense on July 23, 2019 (11th matchday). During this season he scored four goals in 32 appearances and prepared six more goals. In the following season, due to the COVID-19 pandemic , he only played four competitive games until he switched in July 2020.

Antony's move to the Dutch club Ajax Amsterdam was announced on February 23, 2020 . The honorary division leader secured the services of the Brazilian for a transfer fee of 15.75 million euros, which can be increased by six million euros through performance-based bonus payments, and he provided him with a five-year contract, which he entered into on July 1, 2020.

National team

In June 2019 Antony played for the Brazilian U23 national team for the first time . With this selection, he took part in the qualifying tournament for the 2020 Summer Olympics in Tokyo in January 2020 . There he was used in five games in which he scored a goal and an assists and he successfully qualified for the finals with the U23.
