action

Barry Berkman used to be a soldier in the Marines . Now he works as a professional killer ; the seedy Monroe Fuches sends him the orders, but Barry believes he only kills felons. His next assignment takes him to Los Angeles . There he meets with Goran Pazar, the godfather of the Chechen mafia . Barry is reported to have murdered Ryan Madison, who is having an affair with Goran's wife. Barry hesitates, but then, at Monroe's urging, follows Ryan to an acting class led by the spirited and exceedingly vain Gene Cousineau. He spontaneously plays a scene with Ryan, which doesn't go very well, but he is allowed to stay in the course from now on. He soon found pleasure in his new role and in the course participant Sally Reed. However, the killing business catches up with him again and again, also because Monroe does not allow him to get out. Because of this, Barry always has to commute between acting and killing, which often leads to problems, tragic entanglements and not infrequently also comical situations: At the end of the first season, Barry killed the Chechen bandits, is with Sally and actually wants one starting a new life, however, has also seen herself forced to kill Gene's lover after she, a policewoman, found him.

In the meantime, NoHo sees its flourishing collaboration with the Bolivians threatened by Esther, the leader of the Burmese mafia involved in an operation by the Bolivians. He asks Barry for help in Los Angeles, but he is angry that NoHo has spoken to him in the middle of the street and briskly rejects him. A little later, NoHo visits Barry again and claims he owes him something because he saved his life. He threatens Barry to kill him if he doesn't kill Esther. Meanwhile, Monroe lives in Cleveland and is looking for a successor for Barry, but is so clumsy that he is arrested. His DNA is assigned to a tooth found at the scene of Goran's murder. Barry refuses to write about his time as a Marine and persuades Gene to write something about their first meeting. When this fails, Gene realizes that he is too self-centered and asks Barry to write about his time in Afghanistan . The committed sniper does not score and is in turn injured by Barry with a shot in the shoulder. NoHo doesn't want to be sent back to Chechnya and asks Barry to kill him. Instead, Barry makes him an offer: He trains his henchmen so that they can kill the Burmese and NoHo's partnership with Cristobal is no longer endangered. So Barry and NoHo would be even. After that, Barry also wants to write a falsified version of his story, in which he saves the life of his friend Albert in the (fictional) province of Koregal. When his daughter Lily comes home, Barry realizes with pain that she has also mastered Taekwondo. She injured him with a stab in the back, but he managed to escape. He asks Monroe to take him to a hospital, but he takes Barry to a drugstore, where he sutures Barry's wound up badly. Then he goes back with Barry to kill Lily. Lindsey, who watched the performance, tells Sally that her experiences in the industry can help her make it big. Barry later connects the Chechens with the training, NoHo gives him a pin as a thank you. The young Maybrek thanks Barry, because thanks to him he is now a good soldier and has found meaning in his life. Sally receives an offer to make a television film about women who have been abused by their husbands. However, she declines the role when she realizes that the production is not about strong women, but revenge fantasies. She is therefore jealous when Barry is invited in the agency's lobby to cast a leading role for a lavishly produced feature film. He gets advice from Gene again, while Lindsay Sally offers to perform her play in a large theater in order to make people aware of her story. Meanwhile, NoHo's men break free from a burning bus and engage in shootings with the Bolivians and the Burmese. Then they drop him off and name Maybrek as their leader. When Barry goes to his casting call and Gene isn't there as promised, he finds out that Monroe is posing as a private investigator to lead Gene to Janice's body. That's why he doesn't play very well in his casting, which however fascinates the director Jay Roach , and he immediately starts looking for Gene. Monroe, meanwhile, gets angry when Gene explains how lost Barry was before he got into acting class. He leads him to the car and shows him Janice's body, which shocks Gene. Then Monroe calls the police, pretends to be Gene and confesses to the murder. He then aims a gun at Gene while Barry runs through the woods.

Sally improvises during her scene with Barry and bravely dumps her partner instead of being strangled by him. Sally's performance is received very positively by the audience and agents present, but Sally is not happy to get so much attention with a lie. Meanwhile, NoHo and the Chechens are preparing for a fight with the Bolivians and Burmese in a Buddhist monastery. NoHo asks Barry for support, which he refuses. Monroe, who fears for his life, offers himself as a negotiator between all three parties and unites NoHo with Cristobal. Police release Gene from custody after finding a NoHo pin next to Janice's body, which Barry placed there. He calls Gene, but reaches Leo, who tells him that all allegations against his father have been dropped. Barry then says that his father was right and that people can actually change. Barry then receives a text message from NoHo, who tells him where Monroe is at the moment. Barry goes to the monastery and kills almost everyone there, including Maybrek and Esther, but misses Monroe, who escapes. NoHo's successor Batir, who was sent from Chechnya, finds NoHo seriously injured in the temple and praises him for killing Esther.
