The Benz 6/18 PS appeared as the smallest Benz model after the end of the First World War . In 1921 it was replaced by the much more powerful Benz 6/45 PS sports model .
6/18 hp (1918–1921)
The car was equipped with a four-cylinder in - line engine with a displacement of 1570 cm³, producing 18 hp (13.2 kW) at 2100 rpm. developed. The overhead camshaft was driven by a vertical shaft. The engine power was passed on to a three- or four-speed gearbox via a leather cone clutch and from there to the rear wheels via a cardan shaft. The top speed of the car was 85 km / h. The vehicles were not considered very reliable.
The vehicle, fitted with leaf-sprung wooden or wire-spoke wheels and pneumatic tires, was available as a two- or three-seater, open car. In the three-seater, the single rear seat was above the rear axle.
6/45 hp (1921-1923)
In 1921 a sports model appeared, the engine output of which had been increased to 45 hp (33 kW) at 3200 rpm with the same displacement. These cars reached a top speed of 115 km / h.
