The Benz Patent Motor Car Victoria was the first four-wheeled vehicle from Benz & Co.

The vehicle was a further development of the Benz Patent Motor Car number 3 .

Like the previous models, the car had a single-cylinder engine that was installed in the rear of the vehicle. There were differently strong engines:

The wagons had wooden spoke wheels and rigid axles with fully elliptic leaf springs. The power of the engine was transmitted to the rear wheels via a two-stage flat belt transmission and chains . From 1896, a three-stage planetary gear with reverse gear was also available on request .

The Victoria was a two-seater Phaeton . A small foldable front bench seat was available at an additional cost. This made the structure face-to-face .

Currently (October 2019) a copy from 1894 is still registered in Germany .

Type family

Over time, the Victoria became a type family or series. These variants did not officially bear the name Victoria, but were named after their structures.

One variant was the Vis-à-vis with a full front bench seat for two people.

The Phaeton had two rows of seats, both of which were oriented so that all passengers were facing in the direction of travel. Was steered from the front bench.

Phaeton long version, sometimes referred to as Phaeton Vis-à-Vis, was the long version of the Phaeton. The vehicles were ten centimeters longer. Behind the front bench seat for the driver was a face-to-face compartment in which four people could sit opposite one another. The model was also available with a sun canopy.

The landaulet had a short, closed compartment with a folding top behind the driver's seat, so it was a landaulet . Inside there was space for a bench.

The landau was longer and had two rows of seats in the rear compartment, which were arranged opposite one another.

The sales prices were between 3800 and 6150 gold marks .
