Donnerbühl / Stadtbach is a common quarter in district II (Länggasse-Felsenau) in the statistical district of Stadtbach . It borders on the Muesmatt , Länggasse , Grosse Schanze districts and the SBB Depot / Welle railway facilities .
Donnerbühl was also known as Dornbühl and is part of the arch of hills around Bern. It is believed that the Battle of Dornbühl took place there. Later on, Donnerbühl was always a "rich residential area with a beautiful view". The city stream , which also gives its name, is a stream that was diverted into the city in the 13th century.
In 2019, 1557 inhabitants lived in the quarter, 1158 of them Swiss and 399 foreigners. The residential development can be assigned to different eras and includes villas, apartment buildings and a few terraced houses.
Some companies and associations have their headquarters in the quarter, especially on the southern slope of the railway line, such as the Swiss National Science Foundation , the Swiss Tourism Association and the Office for Information Technology and Organization of the Canton of Bern (KAIO).
