Bessonowka ( Russian Бессо́новка ) is a village (selo) in the Penza Oblast in Russia with 11,408 inhabitants (as of October 14, 2010).

geography

The place is well 10 km straight line north of Oblastverwaltungszentrums Pensa on the left bank of the Volga -Nebenflusses Sura , at the confluence of its left tributary Scheldais.

Bessonowka is the administrative center of the Rajons Bessonowski and seat of the rural community selsowet (selskoje posselenije) Bessonowski, (km northwest 4), which also includes the villages Bardinka Mastinowka (14 km west) and Uchtinka (4 km SSW) and the settlements Dessjataja Artel (4 km south), Kolos (10 km east), Nikolajewka (10 km east-northeast), Novaya Shizn (8 km southeast) and Podlesny (7 km east-southeast).

history

The place went from a company founded around 1665 (according to other sources 1693) Cossacks - Sloboda out that bit further south on the left was Sura inflow Pensjatka and therefore first as Pensjazkaja sloboda was called. Nearby was the village of Jamskaja sloboda, also mentioned as Jamschtschina in 1717 . Since the gradually merging villages were on the lands of a Mordovian local prince (Mirza) with the (Russified) name Murdakai Bessonow, the current name, which was first mentioned in 1724, was later established.

Since January 25, 1935, Bessonowka has been the seat of the district named after him - with an interruption from September 1958 to October 20, 1980, when the territory of the district was attached to the Pensenski rajon .

Bessonowka is located on the Penza - Saransk branch of the M5 Ural federal trunk road , which branches off not far south of the town from the main Moscow  - Samara  - Chelyabinsk route (also part of European route 30 ), which Penza turns north.

In the village there has been a train station since 1926 at route kilometer 128 on the Rusajewka  - Pensa railway line, which opened in 1895 and has been electrified since 1969 .
