Newerkino ( Russian: Неве́ркино ) is a village (selo) in the Penza Oblast in Russia with 4,376 inhabitants (as of October 14, 2010).

The town lies on the Volga Upland some 125 km in a straight line to the southeast of Oblastverwaltungszentrums Penza . It is located mainly on the left bank of the Ilim, which is about 6 km northwest from the right to the left, still there Jelan-Kadada mentioned Sura creek Kadada flows.

Newerkino is the administrative center of the Newerkinsky Rajons and the seat of the rural community (selskoje posselenije) Newerkinski selsowet, which also includes the three villages Aljoschkino (5 km northwest), Dmitrijewka (8 km south-southeast) and Tschertalei (9 km south).

history

The place was first mentioned in 1709 as Sjurtanleja, also Newerowa , the first name being the Russified form of the Chuvash name Ҫӑрттанлӑ (probably from the word ҫӑрттан for “ pike ”) and the second name from the first name of Chuvash Newer Kebekejew (also in the russified form). He was the head of a group that had received land there for their participation in the establishment of the Penza- Simbirsk Verhaulinie . Initially the place belonged to Ujesd Simbirsk (today Ulyanovsk ), from 1780 to the newly formed Ujesd Kuznetsk . This was part of the governorship of Saratov, from December 1796 to March 1797 briefly of the then temporarily dissolved Gouvernement Penza and then the Gouvernement Saratov . Until the end of the 19th century, in addition to the current form, Nikolskoje was used as a further name , after the name of the village church consecrated to Nikolaus von Myra . In 1861 the village became the seat of a Volost .

From July 23, 1928 Newerkino was the administrative seat of a newly created Raion of the Middle Volga Oblast (Sredne-Wolschkaja oblast) , from 1929 Region Middle Volga (Sredne-Wolschki krai) , initially part of the Kuznetsk Okrug, which was dissolved again in 1930 . In 1932 the Rajon was dissolved and its territory was attached to the east neighboring Pavlovsky rajon with its seat in Pavlovka . In 1935 the Rajon with the formation of the Kuibyshev region ( Kuibyshevsky krai, from 1936 Oblast Kuibyshev, today Oblast Samara ) was re-designated and in 1939 transferred to the newly founded Oblast Penza.

From 1963 to 1965 the Rajon was dissolved again, and its territory was annexed to the Kuznetskiy Rajon, which is neighboring to the north.

Via the regional road 58K-357 Newerkino is connected to the federal trunk road M5 Ural , which runs about 35 km north of Kuznetsk and connects Moscow with Chelyabinsk via Penza and Samara . The nearest train station on the Ryashsk  - Penza - Syzran line is also in Kuznetsk .

From Newerkino to the northwest, the 58N-229 runs in the settlement Werchosim from which in turn connect to Kuznetsk and in the west adjacent Rajonzentrum Russki Kameschkir there. In an easterly direction the 58N-222 (from Alejewo as 58N-221) leads to the border of the Ulyanovsk Oblast , from there in the direction of Pavlovka, and to the southwest the 58N-223 to the border of the Saratov Oblast , from there in the direction of Baltai  - Basarny Karabulak .
