Brandon Mechele (born January 28, 1993 in Bredene , Flanders ) is a Belgian football player . He is mostly used in the defense chain and has been under contract with the Belgian first division club FC Brugge since 2013 .

Club career

In 1999, Brandon Mechele moved from KSV Bredene to the Belgian record cup winner FC Brugge in the youth and went through all the youth departments there until 2013. For the 2013/14 season rose to the first team from Bruges. Even before his official promotion to the first team, he gave in the team round of the Jupiler Pro League 2012/13 under coach Juan Carlos Garrido on May 5, 2013 with a 2-1 victory against Sporting Lokeren made his debut for the first team. In the championship round they reached 3rd place, which qualified them for the UEFA Europa League .

His current contract with Club Bruges was extended in mid-April 2020 until the end of the 2022/23 season.

National team career

He was appointed to the Belgian U-21 national team for the first time in 2013 and played a total of eight times for the U-21s of the Netherlands until 2014. He played his last game in a 6-0 win against Zypen under coach Johan Walem .

On October 13, 2019, he made his first appearance in the senior national team . Mechele came on for Thomas Vermaelen in the 89th minute in the 2-0 away win in the European Championship qualification against Kazakhstan .
