Career

society

Born in the city of Vilnjansk in the Zaporizhia Oblast , Sobol comes from the youth work of Metalurh Zaporizhia and was promoted to the first team for the 2011/12 season. On October 13, 2011 (11th matchday) he made his debut in a 4-0 home win against FK Lviv in the Ukrainian second division when he was substituted on for Yevhen Pissotskyj in the 55th minute . On May 19, 2012 (32nd matchday) he scored his first goal in a 4-0 home win against Krymteplyzja Molodischnoho . In this 2011/12 season he rose with the club in the top Ukrainian league and played 14 league games in which he was able to score twice.

In the 2012/13 season he was regularly in the starting lineup and in February 2013 he moved to league rivals Shakhtar Donetsk , where he signed a three-year contract. He made his debut on March 1, 2013 (19th matchday) in a 4-1 home win against Volyn Lutsk , when he came on in the 65th minute for Răzvan Raț and was able to prepare a goal in stoppage time. At his new club, he was mainly used as a substitute for the experienced Ra überwiegend by head coach Mircea Lucescu . Although this left the club for the 2013/14 season , he was still only used as a rotation player and only played nine league games.

On August 28, 2014 Eduard Sobol moved to league rivals Metalurh Donetsk on loan for the entire 2014/15 season . Already in his first league game in a 1-1 draw against Metalist Kharkiv he flew with a " yellow-red " from the field. Despite this setback, he started this season regularly and at the end of the season he returned to Schachtar after 15 first division appearances.

He spent the next 2015/16 season on loan with Metalist Kharkiv. There he was an important regular player in left full defense and played 21 league games in which he was unsuccessful.

On July 5, 2016, he was loaned to the league rival Zorya Luhansk . He was also in the starting line-up there since his arrival and played with the team in the group stage of the 2016/17 UEFA Europa League . On matchday 32, he scored his only goal of the season in a 2-0 home win against Olimpik Donetsk . After 27 competitive appearances, he returned to his home club again.

There he was still not considered part of the squad and was finally loaned out for the fourth time in his career on August 9, 2017. This time he left his homeland for the first time and joined the Czech first division club Slavia Prague . Just two days later (3rd matchday) he started in a 2-0 home win against FC Vysočina Jihlava . On August 27 (5th matchday) he met in the 4-0 home win against FK Mladá Boleslav for the first time in the jersey of Červenobílí . He was an undisputed regular player in both league operations and the group stage of the 2017/18 UEFA Europa League , but dropped out towards the end of the season. He played 20 league games for the capital city club in the 2017/18 season, in which he scored once.

At the beginning of the 2018/19 season he was again not taken into account at Shakhtar Donetsk and switched to a one-year loan deal to the Czech first division club FK Jablonec on September 3, 2019 . There he established himself as a regular player in the second half of the season. On March 8, 2019, he helped turn a 0-1 deficit in the home game against FK Teplice into a 2-1 win with his first goal of the season and an assist. After 21 league appearances in which he scored a goal, he returned to Ukraine.

On July 4, 2019, he moved on loan to the Belgian first division club FC Bruges , who also secured an optional purchase option of four million euros. He quickly established himself as a regular at Blauw-Zwart , completed the group stage of the 2019/20 UEFA Champions League with the club and won the Belgian championship with him in the 2019/20 season. During this season he played 26 league games in which he prepared four goals.

National team

Eduard Sobol played for the Ukrainian U16 , U17 and U18 national teams before he played for the Ukraine U19 for the first time in September 2012 . In July 2014 he took part with this selection at the U19 European Championship 2014 in Hungary . At the tournament he played all three games of the group stage, in which Ukraine missed promotion to the final round as third in the table.

He then worked for the U20 , with whom he took part in the 2015 U20 World Cup in New Zealand . He scored a goal in the 6-0 win in the second group game against Myanmar . As group winners, Ukraine advanced to the round of 16, where they were eliminated on penalties against Senegal . From September 2015 to May 2016, Sobol completed 10 international matches for the U21s .

On September 5, 2016, Eduard Sobol made his debut in a 1-1 draw against Iceland in qualifying for the 2018 World Cup for the Ukrainian national team .
