Career

society

Clinton Mata was born in Verviers in the east of Belgium not far from the German border and started playing football at KAS Eupen in the nearby German-speaking part of the country . On February 17, 2012 he made his debut in the 2-1 win against Waasland-Beveren in the second Belgian division for the professional team. After Mata was not always in the starting eleven, he won a regular place in the second half of the 2013/14 season and qualified with KAS Eupen as runner-up for the final round for promotion to the first Belgian league , which in the last game against Oud -Heverlee Leuven was gambled away with a 2-1 away defeat. In the summer break of 2014 he moved to the first division club Sporting Charleroi , where he held the reserve role, as before in Eupen, before he won a regular place in the second half of the 2015/16 season. As group winners in play-off 2 , Sporting Charleroi qualified for the play-off for participation in the final for qualifying for the UEFA Europa League . In the playoff match, Mata and his club won against KV Kortrijk , but lost in the final ( Europa League play-off ) against KRC Genk . The following season saw Clinton Mata's breakthrough in the jersey of Sporting Charleroi and in August 2017 he switched to KRC Genk on loan. There he was one of the regular players, but had not been part of the squad in some games. With Genk, Mata qualified for the UEFA Europa League after they beat SV Zulte Waregem 2-0 in the decisive game . He then joined the champions Club Bruges , but only gave up on the ninth matchday in the city duel against Cercle Bruges due to an operation . Unless he was injured, Clinton Mata was one of the seeded players and was runner-up with the Bruges, and he was also used in the UEFA Champions League (including against Borussia Dortmund ). In the following season, Clinton Mata made his breakthrough when he was used in almost every game and won the Belgian championship with Club Brugge due to the season break due to the Corona crisis .

National team

On September 10, 2014, Clinton Mata made his debut in Luanda, 3-0 in qualifying for the Africa Cup 2015 against Burkina Faso for the Angolan national team .
