The castle Etzgerode is an Outbound lowland castle in a valley at 260  m above sea level. NN between Momberg and Speckswinkel northwest near Neustadt in the Marburg-Biedenkopf district in Hesse .

In the 14th century the Lords of Momberg were named as the owners of the castle and later the Lords of Hirzenhain. In 1572 it was mentioned as desolate and in the 16th century a nine-meter high square tower with battlements was still preserved. The castle complex was a tower castle secured by a double moat .
