description

It is a deserted castle that has the characteristics of a moth enclosure once fortified with a moat and rampart . The castle hill had a diameter of about 20 m and was surrounded by a moat . This had a width of up to 14 m. Three-quarters of the circular moat was surrounded by a wall, which is missing in the northwest of the facility. The wall was 2.5 m high and 10 to 13 m wide. In the northwest, the area in front of the castle was additionally secured by two trenches and a wall. This north-western fortification became necessary relatively late, before the facility there was secured by the course of the Robache . This additional protection was necessary because the area of the outer bailey had been expanded to the north with the inclusion of the stream. The ramparts and thus the castle complex , however, were not completed, which can be seen today from the fact that the ramparts break off on both sides before connecting to the core castle .

A documentary mention of the castle foundation has not yet been found. Based on archaeological finds, the castle is dated between the 13th and 15th centuries. This was confirmed by finds in the "Roda" or "Rode", immediately west of the former place. However, there is a documentary mention of “Roda” from 750/79, which, if the identity could be proven, could indicate a higher age.
