Plausdorf Castle

Castle Plausdorf is a country estate on the northeast edge of the district of Amöneburg in Hessian Marburg-Biedenkopf . The castle-like complex consists of a manor house, a water mill from the 16th century and numerous extensions from the beginning of the 20th century. It is surrounded by a five hectare park to the southwest to the southeast. To the northwest the area is traversed by the lower reaches of the Klein , which feeds the Mühlgraben of the estate.

The inhabited and privately owned castle is not open to the public.

location

Plausdorf Castle is located at the very edge of the Amöneburg district on the border with the town of Kirchhain in the north and about 600 meters from the border with Stadtallendorf in the east, whose Ferrero settlement begins 1.2 kilometers to the east. It connects directly to the north with the Brückerwald , which is segmented 100 meters from the park and 300 meters from the castle by the B 62 . The Stadtallendorfer district of Niederklein begins two and a half kilometers southeast, the settlement area of the core town of Amöneburg three kilometers southwest and that of Kirchhain two kilometers northwest.

A public forest path runs 100 meters south of the castle, which, especially in winter, offers a view through an open fence. From the east, the publicly accessible water protection area extends up to ten meters from the castle building, on the north side the other small bank on the Kirchhainer side is about 20 meters away from the buildings.

history

The mill and farm were first mentioned in 1463, but today's mill probably dates from the mid-16th century. In 1565 the mansion was built in the Renaissance style. In 1571, Kurmainz enfeoffed Konrad von Schwalbach with the estate, which, documented by the number 1583 on the building, undertook significant extensions.

In 1618 the farm was sold by the von Schwalbach family to Melchior von Lehrbach . In 1701 and 1728 the border between Mainz and Hesse ran directly through the estate, with the manor house on the Mainz side. In 1756 the farm was entirely on Mainz territory.

In 1899 the von Goldammer family acquired the farm and had it, partly from ruins, expanded into a country palace in the style of historicism between 1901 and 1914. With the dissolution of the manor districts in Prussia in 1928, Plausdorf Castle was finally incorporated into Amöneburg .

structure

The main building line stretches over a distance of 130 meters to the east-northeast, from the southwest a second line stretches to the northeast, creating an asymmetrical, oval U-shape.

To the far east is the 28-meter-long complex around the east tower, to which the 37-meter-long mansion adjoins. After a gap of six meters there is a 28 meter long farm building, which only separates a few meters from the 13 meter square main house of the mill. To the northeast of the mill, also after only a very small vacant lot, there is a three-part farm building in a slight arc.
