The castle Buchenau is a medieval castle site south of Dautphetaler hamlet Buchenau in Marburg-Biedenkopf in Hessen .

location

The castle stable of the former Spornburg lies on a spur above the Lahn at around 286  m above sea level. NN height, only about 1.5 to two kilometers east of Hohenfels Castle .

history

Buchenau Castle

The only direct mention is made for 1468 in the event of an unsuccessful siege. The noble lords of Buchenau are mentioned in documents from the 13th to the 16th century (1210–1575). At that time Buchenau was a bailiwick of the diocese of Fulda .
