Forst Castle

The Castle Forest is an Outbound Wasserburg on the " deserted forest" to the forest in the eastern district of Stadtallendorf direction Gleim grove and between low-Klein and New Town in Marburg-Biedenkopf in Hessen .

history

In 1283, Ludwig de Forest is mentioned as the likely builder of the castle , and in the 14th century the lords of Gleimenhain are owners. In 1478 the castle was already desolate and went to Hans von Dörnberg . The castle fell into disrepair, and in 1563 it was agreed with the Archdiocese of Mainz that it would no longer be built.

The castle is assumed to be an approximately square fortification with an external length of about 16 meters. A rectangular building with a side length of 4 meters should be able to be proven in it. The moat is still preserved from the former castle complex ; Overgrown walls can still be seen from the curtain wall and the residential tower .
