The castle Leiterstädt is a lost moated castle east of the district Langenstein of the city of Kirchhain in the district of Marburg-Biedenkopf in Hesse .
description
The moated castle built by the Lords of Leiterstädt (presumed local nobility, documented between 1260 and 1283) in the 12th to 13th centuries was mentioned in 1282 and destroyed around 1478. Nothing has been preserved from the former castle complex. Presumably it was a fortified courtyard to protect the deserted village of Leiterstede , which has been documented for about the same time. The place and castle must have been very small, there is no record of its own district.
