The Niederntüchersfeld castle ruins were one of the two hilltop castles in the church village of Tüchersfeld . The ruins of the Spornburg are located on a rock needle in the middle of the village of Tüchersfeld in the municipality of Pottenstein in the Upper Franconian district of Bayreuth in Bavaria . The remains of Oberntüchersfeld Castle are on the rear rock needle .

The castle was built in the 13th century and mentioned in 1269. On May 27, 1262, the Bamberg bishop Berthold von Leiningen acquired the castle.

In the addenda to the episcopal land register B of 1348, the two castles Tüchersfeld were first distinguished by name; the upper castle is the seat of an office that was created before 1323-27, the lower castle was a fiefdom owned by the Groß von Trockau .

In 1430 the castle was destroyed in the Hussite Wars and rebuilt by the liege owner von Groß. In 1525 the castle burned down in the Peasants 'War and was finally destroyed in the Thirty Years' War in 1636 . In 1691 she was described as "very desolate" in an official description. Around 1700 a Jewish settlement established itself in the remaining ruins, and in 1755 44 Jews lived there. The Jewish settlement in the "Lower Castle" was destroyed by fire in 1758. The remnants of the old structure were incorporated into the building, which was newly constructed from 1758 to 1762.

In 1959 the remaining parts of the complex, now called "Judenhof", were sold to private individuals. After the plant had been thoroughly renovated from 1981 to 1983, which was 1,985 Franconian Switzerland Museum opened.

Only a few remains of the wall on a rock tower remain from the former castle.
