The citadel Hollfeld is an Outbound citadel to a height spur ( Höhenburg ) at 410 m above sea level. NHN at the confluence of Wiesent and Kainach at today's Marienplatz in Hollfeld (old town) in the Bayreuth district in Bavaria .
The early medieval castle complex from Ottonian times was first mentioned in 1017 and was the fortification of the upper town, from which the well-preserved historic old town arose. Nothing is left of the former castle complex.
