Chilleurs-aux-Bois is a French commune with 2,027 inhabitants (as of January 1 2018) in the department of Loiret in the region Center-Val de Loire . The municipality belongs to the arrondissement of Pithiviers and the canton of Malesherbes (until 2015: canton of Pithiviers ). The inhabitants are called Chilleurois .
geography
Chilleurs-aux-Bois is located about 22 kilometers northeast of Orléans . The Essonne River has its source in the municipality. The river Laye du Süd runs in the northern municipal area and the Laye du Nord on the northern municipal boundary , both tributaries of the Essonne.
Chilleurs-aux-Bois is surrounded by the neighboring communities of Montigny in the north and northwest, Santeau in the north, Mareau-aux-Bois in the north and northeast, Courcy-aux-Loges in the east, Ingrannes in the southeast, Sully-la-Chapelle in the south and Southeast, Loury in the south and southwest and Neuville-aux-Bois in the west.
The former route nationale 152 (today's D2152) runs through the municipality .
