The China Open 2017 was a pool tournament in the 9-ball discipline that took place in Shanghai from June 4th to 11th, 2017 .

The German Joshua Filler defeated the Taiwanese Chang Jung-Lin 11: 6 in the final and won a world ranking tournament for the first time. At 19, he is the youngest ever winner of the China Open. Third place went to Thorsten Hohmann , who was the last German to win the tournament (2009), and Cheng Yu-hsuan . The defending champion was the Chinese Wu Jiaqing , who was eliminated in the round of 16 against the Austrian Albin Ouschan .

In the women's category, Chen Siming won for the second time after 2010. In the purely Chinese final she beat Liu Shasha 9: 8 . Chezka Centeno and Fu Xiaofang took third place. The defending champion was Yu Han .

Qualifying tournaments were held from June 4th to 6th at the Shanghai APEX Billiard Club (men) and the Zongdu Billiard Club (women). 64 players who initially competed against each other in the double knockout system qualified for the men's tournament . From the round of 32, the tournament continued in the knockout system . The goal was nine games in the qualification and the double knockout phase and eleven games in the final round. Among the women, 48 players qualified for the main tournament and 16 players for the final round. The goal for the women was seven games in the qualification and the double knockout phase and nine games in the knockout phase. In both competitions, the qualification was played with a winner break and the main tournament with an alternating break. The main tournaments were held at the Pudong Tangzhen Culture & Sports Center .
