Christian Hammer (* 27. September 1987 in Galati , Romania as Cristian Ciocan ) is in Germany beheimateter German Romanian heavyweight - Boxer .

Career

Hammer learned boxing in Romania under coach Felix Păun. In 2008 he came to Germany and later also took on German citizenship. His birth name Ciocan means hammer in German . On September 28, 2012 he won against Danny Williams the vacant WBO European heavyweight title by technical knockout in the fourth round. On February 28, 2015, he lost the fight to Britain's Tyson Fury by giving up after the eighth round. With a win he would have had the chance to challenge world champion Wladimir Klitschko . Before that, he had been undefeated for four years.

He fought his way back against veterans Sherman Williams and Michael Sprott and in October 2016 he defeated former European champion Erkan Teper . In February 2017, he managed an early win against David Price . In December 2017 there was a fight against Alexander Powetkin in Russia , which ended with a unanimous point defeat for Hammer. In 2018 there was a duel in Hamburg against Michael Wallisch . Hammer managed a knockout victory in the 5th round. On March 2, 2019, Hammer went into the ring against top ten boxer Luis Ortiz from Cuba in Brooklyn , New York City , USA . After a courageous fight, he lost unanimously on points.
