Christopher "Chris" Atkinson (born November 30, 1979 in Bega , Australia ) is an Australian rally driver .

Athletic career

Atkinson won two titles in the FIA Asia-Pacific Super 1600 series in 2003 and 2004 . In 2004 he made his WRC debut for the Subaru factory team at the New Zealand Rally . From 2005 he started as a regular driver for Subaru WRT alongside Petter Solberg . Atkinson's best positions so far were two second places in the overall results of the Rally Mexico and Argentina in the 2008 season .

In 2009 , After Subaru withdrew, Atkinson moved to the newly formed Citroën Junior Team on a Citroën C4 WRC . There he was a teammate of Conrad Rautenbach , Sébastien Ogier and Evgeny Novikov .

After Atkinson made a brief appearance at the 2012 WRC round in Mexico in the Monster World Rally Team alongside Ken Block and started in the Citroën DS3 WRC for the Qatar World Rally Team in the Rally Finland , he returned to the WRC as a regular driver for the MINI Portugal team . He replaced the works driver Armindo Araujo there for the last five races of the 2012 World Rally Championship . The following year Atkinson started the Rally Mexico where he finished sixth and in 2014 he got a contract with the Hyundai World Rally Team for some rallies.
