- The Lutherans hold their first public service in the town hall
- July 31: After the Kleve-Mark family died out , Düren came under the rule of the two main inheritors Palatinate-Neuburg and Brandenburg
- 23.10 .: Düren Guard Regulations: Every citizen must do guard duty himself or through a deputy
- December 19: Duke Wolfgang Wilhelm occupies Düren and turns it into a garrison town (4 companies of Brandenburg and Neuburg troops)
- Christmas: The Lutheran congregation holds the Christmas service in the apartment of the town clerk Wilhelm Deutgen on the Altenteich

- The ducal rent master's office is built on the city wall near the Obertor
- The upper floor of the meat hall on the cattle market, today Kaiserplatz , is made available to the Reformed as a preacher's house
- Next to the town hall in Weierstr. the first syringe house is built (used until 1887)

- August 18: The mayor issues a decree on fire safety and cleanliness in the city

- Spaniards camp in Düren
- First documentary mention of the Catholic elementary school for boys as a permanent institution under municipal funding
- The Reformed congregation is no longer allowed to hold public services until 1648
- 13.3 .: Foundation of the Jesuit branch in Düren by Father Nikolaus Lehm from Aachen and Father Hubert Rütten from Trier , both born in Düren
- 1.6 .: The guilds ask the council to promote the Jesuit settlement
- July 28th: The Duke hands over the old pastorate to the Jesuits
- October 24th: At 6 p.m. 6 choir sisters of the Annunties (Order of the Annunciation), coming from Antwerp , arrive in Düren

- A chapel in honor of the plague saint Rochus is added to the Franciscan church
- March 12th: Duke Wolfgang Wilhelm finally transfers the parish of Anne to the Jesuits . The Jesuits had already taken over the vacant pastor's position.

- Completion of the new cellite monastery building
- March 25th: The Jesuits found the Marian Sodality
- Duke Wolfgang Wilhelm enfeoffs Melchior von Courtenbach with the Forsthof, later Oberstr. 89, canceled in 1981

In the Franciscan Church, the Arch Brotherhood of Saints St. Rocus and St. Sebastianus is founded

The first city map of Düren by Wenceslas (Wenzel) Hollar appears

- The Capuchins come to Düren
- The imperial general, Prince Octavio Piccolomini , moves into the suburbs of Düren

- Piccolomini occupies Düren
- The Jesuits received the manor named after them in the south of the city (Jesuitenhof), today the location of an indoor swimming pool. The farm used to be called "Meyradtshof".
- May 28th: The Wilhelmitenkloster Bernardfagne donates a Rochus relic to the monastery Bethanien (Franciscans).
- December 19: Conversion of the previous municipal Latin school into a Jesuit grammar school

- The imperial troop leader Guillaume de Lamboy bombs Düren
- Annakirmes was first mentioned as a market in a file from September 18, 1638

December 31st: The imperial troops under General von Lamboy burn the suburbs down
1640
- Jakob Polius, the first historian of the city of Düren, completes his 'Historical Treatise on Saint Anna'
- Düren is occupied

- The Franciscans receive two relics of Mother Anna

- 24.2. - May 25th: Weimar and Hessen under General Rosen keep Düren occupied
- May 30th: Free mercenary troops under Franz von Bronckhorst occupy Düren and tear down part of the suburbs
- 25.10 .: The mercenaries evacuate Düren from the imperial troops. Soon the imperial troops are leaving

- The Annuntiaten buy the Gewandhaus corner of Bongard / Altenteich as a new monastery building. They only live there for a year. Then they returned to the rebuilt monastery in Zehnthofstrasse. back.
- 11.9 .: The Hessian general Ernst Albrecht Kraft von Eberstein shoots at Düren, but withdraws again at the instigation of the Duke of Jülich
- October: Hesse bombard Düren again and force the surrender, but Count von Hatzfeld forces them to withdraw again
1644
- June 29th: The reformed church in Düren consists of 211 souls
- April 10/11: Count Christian von Nassau-Siegen and Colonel Mandelslo displace the Hessians from Düren
- June: New battles with the Hessians

Düren's gate fortifications are being strengthened because of concerns about a new attack by the Hessians

Hessian and Weimar soldiers besiege Düren and destroy the suburbs, but withdraw again due to the strong resistance
1647
December 9th: Guillaume de Lamboy conquered Düren and held it for nine months
1648
- September 20: After a three-week siege, Düren is handed over to the Hessians
- End of October: Düren learns from express couriers that the ' Peace of Westphalia ' (end of the Thirty Years' War) was concluded on October 24, 1648
- November: The Hessians leave Düren

The Capuchins come to Düren and build a monastery with a church on the corner of Kämergasse / Altenteich

July 9: The Duke grants the four capitals of the Duchy of Jülich (Jülich, Düren, Münstereifel and Euskirchen ) the independence of their administration

Completion of the renovation of the Annunciate Monastery in Zehnthofstrasse and building the church

- New construction of the inn on the site of the current Pesch School with monastery church. The church was not consecrated until 1684.
- The council orders a census of all residents over 15 years

- The organ builder Wilhelm Gummersbach from Cologne created a new organ for 320 Reichstaler in the Franciscan Church

December: Düren has to feed a quartered general staff of the Dutch-German troops from the army of Louis XIV of France at Schlossberg Castle in Birkesdorf

October 13th: The Marshal of Luxembourg forces the French main army to occupy the city, quarter 5,000 soldiers and demolish 80 houses of refugee citizens

14.12 .: Withdrawal of the remaining French troops who had stayed in Düren to collect war compensation

2.8 .: The Ursulines from Liège come to Düren and also set up a girls' school . They lease the Schwarzenbroicher house in Schellengasse, which previously belonged to the Kreuzbrothers. It belonged to the Schwarzenbroich monastery , located between Gürzenich and Schevenhütte . They only stay there for a year and change houses several times

April 29th: Consecration of the Annuntiatenkirche in Zehnthofstrasse. So far there was only one monastery chapel there.

The Ursulines buy in the lower Kölnstrasse. (Corner of Schützenstrasse opposite the post office) Spetgensche Haus

- Due to the succession in the Palatinate, Elector Philipp Wilhelm is involved in the war for the Palatinate , the 5th predatory war of Louis XIV of France
- December 15: The French Marshal Marquis de Varennes occupies Düren

- October: French troops burn u. a. Distelrath and the adjacent, thereby sunken Miesenheim down

The Düren bailiff, Freiherr Johann Adolf Wolff Metternich zur Gracht, causes the first Düren procession to move out of the Franciscan church to Kevelaer
