society

Claudio Bravo began his career as a professional footballer at Colo Colo Santiago in Chile. There the goalkeeper became a regular player. With Colo Colo he won the Apertura 2006 and then moved to the Spanish first division Real Sociedad in the summer . Bravo was originally signed as a substitute goalkeeper, but he played for much of the season because regular goalkeeper Asier Riesgo showed some uncertainties during the season. On October 22, 2006 Bravo made his debut with the then first division club in the league game against RCD Mallorca . At the end of the season, Real Sociedad was relegated.

Claudio Bravo (2014)

Bravo scored his first goal on February 14, 2010 when he converted a direct free kick . The opponent at the time was Gimnàstic de Tarragona . After completing the 2009/10 season, he returned with Real Sociedad to the Primera División .

For the 2014/15 season Bravo moved to FC Barcelona for 12 million euros . He signed a four-year contract until June 30, 2018; his release clause was EUR 40 million. He was a regular goalkeeper in the league and Marc-André ter Stegen played in the UEFA Champions League and the Copa del Rey . He made his league debut for Barça on August 24, 2014 on the first matchday in a 3-0 win over FC Elche . Bravo remained without conceding a goal on the following seven match days. On October 25, 2014, he conceded his first goal of the season in the 3-1 defeat in El Clásico against Real Madrid on matchday nine after 755 minutes of play, when Cristiano Ronaldo converted a penalty against him in the 35th minute of the game. Bravo broke Pedro María Artola's record , who had not conceded a goal for 560 minutes at the start of the 1977/78 season . On May 17, 2015 Bravo, who appeared in all but the last game of the season, won the Spanish championship for the first time with FC Barcelona.

In August 2016 he moved to the Premier League for Manchester City , where he received a four-year contract. In August 2020, Bravo was bid farewell to his club.

Bravo then moved to Betis Sevilla for the 2020/21 season on a free transfer , where he received a contract for one year with an option for another.

National team

Claudio Bravo is the Chilean national goalkeeper. Before he was called up to the senior national team, he had already played in various youth teams of the association. On July 11, 2004, he made his debut against Paraguay during the 2004 Copa America . Three years later he took part with the Chilean selection at the Copa America 2007 in Venezuela . While the team was eliminated after the preliminary round in 2004, it failed in the quarterfinals of the tournament in 2007. After Marcelo Salas left the national team in 2007, Bravo was named the team's new captain . As captain, he led his team to the 2010 World Cup and the 2014 World Cup , where they were eliminated in the round of 16 on penalties against Brazil. On October 10, 2014, in the friendly against Peru, he replaced Leonel Sánchez as the record-breaking Chilean player who had held the record since 1963 with his 85th international match . On March 24, 2016, he played his 100th international match in the World Cup qualifier against Argentina . On June 28, 2017, he saved three of three penalties in the penalty shoot-out at the end of the semi-finals of the Confed Cup 2017 in Russia against reigning European champions Portugal. After the final against Germany, he was honored as the best goalkeeper in the tournament for his achievements .

For the 2018 World Cup , the Chileans were able by a 0: 3 defeat not in Brazil on the final day to qualify . Due to an injury, he did not appear for an international match in 2018 and was replaced by Alexis Sánchez as the record national player. He could not be used at the Copa América 2019 , where the Chileans were unable to defend their title. He only returned to the Chilean goal in September 2019.
