Overview of the Loire wine-growing regions. Coteaux-de-l'Aubance belongs to the Anjou region (reddish colored area near Angers) and lies on the Aubance river.

The Coteaux de l'Aubance wine-growing region lies within the Anjou and is therefore part of the Loire wine-growing region . This appellation only produces slightly fruity sweet wines . The zone has had the status of an Appellation d'Origine Contrôlée (AOC for short) since February 18, 1950 ( decree last amended on February 12, 2003 and October 7, 2003 ). The area has a vineyard area of 170 hectares and is located about 20 km southwest of Angers . The vineyards are located on the slopes of the ten communities Brissac-Quincé , Denée , Juigné-sur-Loire , Mozé-sur-Louet , Murs-Erigné , Saint-Jean-des-Mauvrets , Saint-Melaine-sur-Aubance , Saint-Saturnin- sur-Loire , Soulaines-sur-Aubance and Vauchrétien along the Aubance River . The area runs practically parallel to the Coteaux-du-Layon wine-growing region . The red wines from this area are marketed under the name Anjou-Villages-Brissac .

The white wine is made from 100% Chenin Blanc grapes , which is called Pineau de la Loire here. In the best case scenario, fog forms on the Aubance in autumn, which favors an infestation of the berries with Botrytis cinerea and leads to noble rot . The berries have to be collected manually in several harvest passes. The yield is set at a maximum of 35 hectoliters per hectare. This effort has its price. A bottle normally costs between ten and 15 euros per bottle. Special readouts can also cost more than 20 euros (as of 2008).

The wines must since 2002 with the quality label berry selection ( sélection de grains nobles are provided) when the sugar content in the mash is about 294 grams per liter. Normally 230 grams are required for a simple coteaux de l'Aubance. (→ must weight )

The Coteaux de l'Aubance wines have a good shelf life. Good vintages can be stored in the cellar for five to eight years without hesitation, the best vintages have a life expectancy of up to 20 years. The wines should be drunk at a drinking temperature of six to eight ° C.
