David Fischer (born February 19, 1988 in Minneapolis , Minnesota ) is an American ice hockey player who has been under contract with the EC KAC in the Austrian Ice Hockey League (EBEL) since April 2016 .
Career
Fischer began his career in the 2003/04 season in the school team of Apple Valley High School in the Minnesota State High School League , where he spent a total of three seasons. Between 2006 and 2010 he was on the ice for the University of Minnesota college team in the Western Collegiate Hockey Association , which is part of the NCAA's gaming operations . In summer 2010, Fischer attended a training camp of the National Hockey League - Franchise Vancouver Canucks in part, but could not recommend it for a fixed contract there. For the 2010/11 season , the defensive player signed a contract with the Florida Everblades , for which he played two years in the East Coast Hockey League and won the championship in the 2011/12 season.
Due to a lack of prospects in North America, where he did not receive any offers from the NHL despite his high position in the NHL Entry Draft , Fischer decided to move to Europe in summer 2012 and joined the Heilbronner Falken from the DEL2 . There the left-handed shooter was able to recommend himself with solid performances and received a contract with the Krefeld Penguins in the summer of 2013 , for which he played in the German Ice Hockey League until the end of the 2015/16 season.
In April 2016 he was signed by the EC KAC from the Austrian Ice Hockey League (EBEL).
