Dawlekanowo ( Russian Давлеканово , Bashkir Дәүләкән / Däüläkän ) is a city in the Republic of Bashkortostan ( Russia ) with 24,073 inhabitants (as of October 14, 2010).
geography
The city is located in the southern foothills of the Urals , about 90 km northwest of the republic capital Ufa on the Djoma , a left tributary of the Belaja which flows into the Kama .
Dawlekanowo is administratively directly subordinate to the Oblast and at the same time the administrative center of the Rajon of the same name .
history
The village of Itkulowo , which was later renamed Dawlekanowo (at the latest when the Samara – Ufa railway line was built or when it opened in 1888 with the station of the same name, at the latest ) has been known since the middle of the 18th century . Towards the end of the 19th century, the place was an important center for grain processing and trading. It received town charter in 1942.
