The Southwest from Above is a three-part series of three documentary film parts each, which portrays the southwest German federal states of Baden-Württemberg , Rhineland-Palatinate and Saarland largely through aerial photographs. The recordings of the first season were made in 2013, the three parts were broadcast for the first time in April 2014 on SWR . The parts of the first season are dedicated to our mountains , our castles and our cities . The second season, first broadcast in January 2015, documents Die Pfalz , Das Saarland and Das Rheinland . The third season is dedicated to our rivers , our lakes and our paths and roads . This season first aired in December 2015.
