The Brood of the Devil ( Japanese メ カ ゴ ジ ラ の 逆襲 , Mekagojira no gyakushū , Ger. "Mechagodzilla's counterattack"), broadcast on German television as Godzilla and the Clash of the Titans , is a Japanese monster film from 1975 from the fictional world about the character of Godzilla . It is the sequel to the 1974 film King Kong versus Godzilla and the last independent directorial work by director Ishirō Honda .

action

The film begins with the search for wreckage from the destroyed Mechagodzilla in the Pacific Ocean . After a short time, the Akatsuki , the submarine of the expedition, is lifted to the surface of the water by an oversized fin, where it is broken into two parts.

The investigation, which was immediately initiated, initially assumes a huge fish, but doubts quickly arise as to whether a fish, regardless of its size, can cause such a catastrophe. Interpol boss Murakoshi and biologist Ichinose question the daughter of the allegedly deceased scientist Dr. Mafune, as they suspect whether the titanosaur discovered by the scientist Mafune might be behind it.

The assumption piles up when even extraterrestrial beings from the planet Black Hole want to conquer the earth with the help of the Mechagodzilla No. 2, which these beings built themselves in order to gain world domination. Dr. Mafune is hostile and hateful towards humanity because he was expelled from university 15 years ago for studying the titanosaur . He then made connections with the army commander Segawa. He was able to live out his hatred of humanity by sending both the titanosaur and the robot Mechagodzilla to Tokyo . Only with the appearance of Godzilla could the earth be saved at the last minute, by Godzilla putting the new Mechagodzilla completely out of order and causing the titanosaur to sink back into the sea.
