Dr. Reddy's Laboratories Ltd. is a medium-sized international pharmaceutical manufacturer from Hyderabad , India . The company was founded by Kallam Anji Reddy in 1984. Dr. Reddy's main business is generic drug production , but it also conducts research itself. The drugs produced are sold in India and other developing countries. After the expiry of the patent term, the active ingredients will also be sold to the USA and Western Europe.

The company had a license from MSD Sharp & Dohme to manufacture a generic version of the active ingredient simvastatin ( Zocor ) for the USA for a period of 180 days prior to the expiry of the patent term.

In February 2006, the Augsburg-based generics group Betapharm was sold to Dr. Reddy's Laboratories sold.
